Today, we're thrilled to feature a conversation with Jakob Junis, the talented pitcher from the Milwaukee Brewers, who joined us for a quick car chat before heading off to a game. Born in Arkansas but raised in Rock Falls where his parents are from, Jakob has had an interesting journey from high school sports to Major League Baseball.

Jakob's athletic journey began in Rock Falls, where he excelled in both baseball and basketball during his high school years. His commitment and skill in baseball led him straight from high school to the professional leagues, skipping college to join the Kansas City Royals who drafted him in 2011.

Jakob candidly shared the challenges and gradual progress of his early career in the minors. Starting from rookie ball, he moved up through every level — a testament to his development and perseverance. His breakthrough came in the Class A league, which quickly escalated to Triple-A and then to his MLB debut with Kansas City in 2017.

Now with the Milwaukee Brewers, Jakob is embracing his new home. He loves the close proximity of his downtown residence to the ballpark and the stunning Milwaukee summer weather. Despite a recent injury involving a 104 mph line drive during a practice, Jakob is on the mend and excited about the team's prospects. His experience with the Brewers has been overwhelmingly positive, marked by a strong start to the season and a vibrant team atmosphere.

As for the future, Jakob is focused on his recovery and eager to return to the mound. He's optimistic about his rehab and looks forward to contributing to the Brewers' success. With a new manager and many fresh faces in the locker room, the team is buzzing with potential and aiming for another playoff run.
